French house veteran, filter king and disco savant DJ Vas is back with the fifth volume of his essential "Re-Edits & More" series, snatching up another foursome of disco ingredients and transforming them into three Michelin star club cuisine. Opening course "Go Get The Money" amuses more than just our bouches, inviting us to shake a mean tailfeather with an unbeatable disco rhythm section (given some added thump of course), swooning strings and a nice little lead/backing vocal duet. It might have all the economic tact of Lil Wayne at his most grasping, but it's kept me moving in this chair for the last six minutes with no give up. As the next serving of our four course taster menu arrives we see Vas showing some classic techniques, shadowing such edit luminaries as Harvey, Krivit, the Idjuts and Morales with a simple but effective groove heavy rework of Powerline's "Double Journey". As we flip the disc, we're treated to the sweet taste of the funked up "Hold On Me", a sassy female vocal funk jam that's gonna get the club warmed up nicely in an early doors scenario. How better to finish off a meal than with some sticky, syrupy and sexy pudding, served up with plenty of cream. "Gigolo" is a full on 80s funker, featuring some sleazy spoken vocal, heavyweight synth bass and headturning leadlines. Vas is showing off with this one, leaving the original more or less intact except for a reshaped arrangement designed solely for the dancefloor. Another round of all killer, no filler from the one and only DJ Vas.
