The throwback 80s heat of "Freekend" was one of the signature tracks from Hot Toddy's album Late Night Boogie, not least for the presence of Toddy's Crazy P mate Danielle Moore. Smoke N Mirrors play their cards right on this single release with some rather neat remix action. First up and completing the Crazy P love in is Ron Basejam, fresh from some hot edits for Wolf & Lamb, keeping the slick percussive groove of the original but slipping in a neat drop and build midway through. Its East Coast meets West Coast next as US producers Nick Chacona and Anthony Mansfield embellish the track with some nasty acid bass undertones which contrast nicely with Moore's sweet vocals. The duo really go to town on the following dub version, perhaps the most polished remix here, adding plenty of effects and cowbell action to the cavernous groove.
