Limited edition 12” picture disc of two new edits of Ease Along, a 1978 Balearic secret weapon from an icon of British music. The mixes come from Cottam and Paul Watson. Cottam is no stranger to edits and re-works but has recently been concentrating on original productions like the Deep Deep Down EP for Aus and Sunrise Sunset on use of Weapons, and remixes for the likes of Fina & Delusions Of Grandeur. This is Watson’s first release but he has years of experience running Preston’s itch night and working for Fat City. This limited edition sees Cottam return to illicit reworkings, and this is the most surprising yet. It came about at the end of a long weekend, Cottam was back at a friends after playing at El Diablo’s Social Club when Watson played the original of Ease Along – straight away Cottam set about butchering the track into an explosive dancefloor number, and he encouraged fledgling producer Watson to get his own version finished.Cottam ups the tempo and minces the vocal to make a proper dancefloor interpretation. Watson keeps the Balearic feel of the original, adding some dub touches for the nu-disco floors. In tribute to the creator of the original a new night ‘Wired For Sound’ has been created with the two producers bringing new house and disco sounds to their home city of Preston.
