New label Last Records is a front for various musical cells around the world, awaiting a signal to unleash their own quirky brand of sound. First band of insurgents are the Sukebe Collective from Fukuoka, Japan. Their mission, to revive and rejig vintage Japanese sounds. Tired of the blind reverence paid to American music in Japanese Hip Hop and sample based music, they decided to raid their families' record collections in search of something purely Japanese. They unearthed a wealth of sounds in the library and this is their first outing. Check! Blips may be spotted in these short recordings, a hiccup here and there, these are left in. The group say they are more interested in getting the sounds out now, than polishing them with soul-less quantizing tools.
