On the up and coming Immigrant Recordings, "Goodbye Greens" E.P. is the highly anticipated debut release from new signing 23 year old Sam Osborn aka Waga Waga. His EP takes on dubstep from an idiosyncratic perspective, with three very different tracks that blur the boundaries between dubstep and electronica. Beautifully made, avoiding cliches, with a lightness of touch that makes him stand out from the crowd. "Legegedon" is dubstep with oceanic ambience at it's core, gilded with complex fractal melodies and loose breaks. "Hualta" is it's darker more militant counterpart, hard-stepping with deftly edited kicks and pulsing bass, the track has a nervous drama with it's wormhole melodic squiggles and spacious delays building the intensity. "J-dub" is the most 'techno' of the tracks, unexpectedly developing into complex lattices of drums before melting off into intense layers of spiralling acidic melody. |
