Pablo is Michael Hunter, the Glaswegian musical talent that brought the dubbed-out goodness of "Butches Brew" to Soma’s sister label, Fenetik, under his Butch Cassidy Sound System alias. "The Story Of Sampling" delves into the topsy-turvy world of Pablo. Classical strings and lyricists are stitched together with beats and a whole ghetto’s worth of attitude. Pablo splices dozens of samples of rappers to build his own unique story, via the E-MU SP1200, and creates an innovative take on sampling. How many can you spot? On the flip, the cosmic "Goes To Pluto" shoots into funked-up bass, spiralling synths and whacked out shakers and cowbells. This masterpiece builds throughout with multiple basslines, percussion galore, and some spaced out reverb and echo, working wonders with the mind.
