The third release from the PMR stable showcases another precocious young talent in the shape of vocalist Javeon McCarthy, who’s teamed up with fellow Bristolian Julio Bashmore to serve up a slo mo future-soul burner. Booming subs, cowbells and analog synths provide a brooding, dubbed out, 100BPM backdrop for McCarthy’s plaintive vocals. There’s nothing stagey here though – it’s the restraint that delivers the emotion. Think Chicago after the party. Meanwhile, Brey of Die Barbie Musik Kollektiv flips it into a percussive, height of the night monster on the B-side.
