Traffic (new wipers mix) is a driving 'wide-screen' track which will turn the dancefloor into a heaving mass of frequencies and beats. This is close to a peak-time track. This is a high intensity track that holds the vibe in a state of impending release underpinned with a deep, open groove. 126bpm. A2 - Slight Transition takes the vibe very deep and keeps it there. A simple (genuinely less is more) drum pattern of a lightly hit snare drum, hi-hat and occasionally shaken guiro over a hypnotic bass pattern, hold the track in place for nearly seven minutes. A masterful control of tension offering the dj a number of options for where to take the dancefloor from this moment's respite. 119bpm B1 - Fixer is a track for very near the end of a set. It is intensely melodic; a track to be dropped after the dancers have grooved their way through all the beats and rhythms the dj has given them. A syncopated groove is created with a heavy bass and dancing hi-hats going off like fireworks, cut up with asymetric chord stabs. Over this, Brendon Moeller totally surprised us by dropping what is definitey one of the great Mini-Moog solos of all time! Euphoric it most definitely is. 125bpm. B2 - Safari. After Fixer and nearly three eps of fine techno, Brendon Moeller takes us home in what can only be described as a spacy, jazzy, funky dub workout. Cool, breezy, but with a menacing deep bass, the track has a satisfying feeling of completion, of a trip with the end now in sight. Skittering echoed flute and snare drum maintain an ever-evolving dialogue through the track, over another dialogue between the bass and drums. |
