A brand new collaborative work from Mica Levi(aka Micachu) and Oliver Coates. ‘Remain Calm’ showcases both musicians’ background in classical composition as well as their restless impulse to blur the boundaries between contemporary genres, from grime to techno to drone. Borne out of an impromptu jam on Mica Levi’s regular NTS radio show, the pair subsequently retreated to a flat in South London to improvise further. The resulting sounds have been chopped and screwed together with the Slip crew to produce a series of beguiling miniatures. Mica Levi studied at the Guildhall School Of Music in London, has released four albums on Rough trade with her group Micachu & The Shapes and won best composer at the European Film Awards for her remarkable soundtrack to the Jonathan Glazer film ‘Under The Skin’ (featuring strings played by Oliver Coates). Oliver Coates is a cellist, composer and producer based in London, who has collaborated with musicians as diverse as the London Contemporary Orchestra, Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead) and Actress. His most recent solo release is the critically acclaimed ‘Upstepping’ (Prah). Vinyl format includes a digital download card.
