Says International Feel...
Here we are with (probably) our last release of 2011. It’s been a busy busy year and we wanted to end it with something very special.
Mind Fair is the psychedelicfolkrock brainchild of Dean Meredith and Ben Shenton, the result of been stuck out in the sticks in the sleepy English town of Stafford, famous for it’s dirty back room pubs where the duo first met.
Whilst Ben was still a spotty art school student, Dean was already making us dance (and having hits) as Bizarre Inc. and more recently as part of Chicken Lips, Goat Dance and The Rhythm Odyssey. One fierce party later and Ben had quit his art degree and started buying vinyl (we all need to see the light at some point !) and releasing tracks on Prins Thomas’ fantastic Internasjonal label (he’s just finished his debut album ‘Electric Church’).
Anyway... enough of the past, its time for some Armenian influenced disco, courtesy of ‘Kerry’s Scene’, a marriage of Shenton’s loose instrumentation and harmonica fixation and Mr Meredith’s distinctive production styles (and not forgetting a whacked out Moog Solo courtesy of The Climax Blues Bands’ Derek Holt). Whatever it is, its got the funk, a groove to move mountains and a trippy psychedelic edge to divebomb you straight into a Hunter Thompson novel via Timothy Leary’s chemical lab. Add to this two deep deep remixes from Legowelt and yes (oh yes) Mr Theo Parrish and you know you’ve got something very special on your hands.
