Straight from the folk at Secretsundaze...
For our 5th release on secretsundaze we are very happy to welcome back Jamie Taylor, more commonly known as Flori to the fold. Of course some may have already heard Secretsundaze 003: ‘Shelter’, a charming track Flori wrote with sometime partner and friend Ethyl, both regular guests playing at secretsundaze from our 10th Birthday Party in London to Sonar, that came complete with a more technoey Rolando remix. Well he's back already, this time flying solo with the ‘Lucy’ 12”.
A side ‘SUZ – 25’ named after an old Technics amplifier he uses is a deep yet potent track with heavy kick, crunchy, knocking analogue percussion complemented by some bleepy synths. It's direct and minus a few swirley padded moments to break up the groove, the track knows exactly where it’s going and will definitely appeal to those who love raw analogue jams with a heavy nod to the D!
‘Lucy’ the double A side is dedicted to a special one, near and dear to him and has quite an epic flowing sub-aquatic groove and is definitely the more subtle yet no less appealing of the 2 tracks. Overall the word warm immediately springs to mind with ‘Lucy’, with its ever constant pads and modulating drums, but the track takes on a new lease of life with a sub bass raising its head half way through giving it that extra bump and when some beautiful keys enter the mix it lifts the track up to more euphoric heights before slipping back down to its more humble beginnings. We can see this track being prime warm-up or late night tackle for the likes of Move D, Lawrence and the Smallville crew.
Overall another sublime EP from Flori who we feel, like a good wine, is just going to get better and better with time and another addition to the secretsundaze catalogue that keeps the bar raised high.
