Aptly named The King Of Soul, Otis Redding was one of the most influential singers in American history, as well as being synonymous with Soul. Before his untimely death in 1967 he released many of the genre’s most important tracks while exemplifying the Stax sound. Dock of the Bay was his first posthumous album released in 1968, as well as being his one and only #1 charting record. The album is best known for containing Redding’s most famous song, ‘(Sittin’ On) The Dock of The Bay’ which he co-wrote with legendary Stax guitarist Steve Cropper.
