Opening proceedings is German producer Retromigration who has teamed up with Bezzix for ‘Where is the sunshine’, a wonderful slice of sun infused bliss. Ear-worm keys are front and centre here as it swings from broken beat to 4/4 in the blink of an eye. Graceful vocals float effortlessly across the mix creating loved up vibrations aplenty. Garage meets Balearic meets house all in a perfectly crafted six minutes. In short, an essential summer jam. Next up UK Garage and house don Joey Mustaphia’s ‘I Miss You’ from his classic ‘Cover Ups Vol 1’ 12” is the latest vinyl gem to be rediscovered and given a well deserved new lease of life. A bone-fide 90’s UK underground Garage classic ‘I Miss You’ perfectly embodies that mid 90’s Ministry vibe with it’s skippy drums, subtle yet energy packed bassline, vocal chops and loopy keys. A bone-fide classic for sure which feels equally as perfect in 2022. Over on the flip we have a Tropical Disco double header as co-label head Moodena teams up with UK house heroes Soul Central before handing the disco baton onto his partner in music Sartorial. ‘A Glass of Cool Aid’ is the finest funk-laced disco. This is a track which will fill any dance-floor with its perfectly executed keys backing up an essential head bobber of a bassline. Its all topped off with vibes that Vince Montana Jr would have been proud off. Throw in some classy feel-good vocal drops and this one is the real deal. An essential cut to grab on its only vinyl outing. Closing out proceedings perfectly is the Ferris Bueller sampling gem ‘Sartorial’s Day Off’. This future club anthem features a disco funk groove from the very top drawer. The perfect 12” closer it’s another track which is destined for the peak-time with its 70’s brass hooks and outrageously funky guitar licks. This is an utterly essential cut in every way if you like to pepper your set with the funkiest of underground gems and let’s face it, who doesn’t?
