"Shaboom Classics #1" celebrates 15 years of Shaboom Records. From the back catalogue of the label, we get treated to lovingly remastered tracks of quality authentic house music. The artists involved on this release have all made huge contributions to the genre, each of whom have enjoyed commercial success from the music they create, but still choose to make quality underground house.
DJ Sneak’s remix of Blakkat’s Full Circle, is probably one of his finest examples of what he does best; raw, jacking boompty beats that only the Chicago originators know how. The pounding groove builds along with a seriously twisted funky bass, jacking horn stabs and trippy sound fx. Perfect for peak time when you need to bring on the energy.
"Rise" is a swinging, jacking piece of authentic funky house music, delivered from one of the godfathers of Chicago House Music, Marshall Jefferson. The bouncing phasing beats, funky synth bass, slamming chord stabs and smoking synth melody underpin a simple spoken word refrain from Marshall saying “ I Feel It Rise”. An absolute master class in “real” funky house, no samples just authentic feel and groove from the source.
"Holy Spirit" by Eddie Amador, is probably one of the best examples of a perfect underground spiritual Deep House track. The dirty beats and massive sub bass line are to die for, all 10 minutes of them! The Gospel style vocal sings “Holy Sprit, shine on Down… shine your grace upon my head”. “I was lost deep in sin, till Jesus came on In…” mixed with a backing track that just crawled straight out of the gutter, it makes for a very potent heady mix of good versus evil! Also included, is the acapella for those who enjoy blending the praise of the lord with the devil’s music.
