Record after record, Macadam Mambo deliver the goods and this latest EP is no exception, featuring the MM debut of the one and only Albion Venables. He turned heads with that exceptional edit of Kingcats featured on Psychemagik's "Magik Cyrkles", then blew the competition away with the blink and you'll miss it masterpiece "Free Fantasy Formation". The Swedish disco don displays his willful eclecticism on this 12" with three bonkers reworks that'll make all of your other records sound shit! Up first, “Disco Mambo” is… as you can imagine, a Disco Mambo track clearly dedicated to the label. Raucous horns, exotic melodies, wah guitar, rattling percussion and a fluid bassline, need I say more! Next up, Albion serves up “Hear The Night”, an obscure Italian record featuring bilingual euro-vox. If I had to guess, I'd say the breathy vocals could come from legendary camp vamp Amanda Lear. Dramatic, cinematic and seriously groovesome, this is proper off its box, obscure Balearic brilliance. Lastly, “The Mirror Forrest” is a gorgeous electronic track shaped from the dusty chaos of an Italian Library record. With shades of New Order at their most heartfelt alongside the synthesized minimalism of Vangelis Katsoulis or Gigi Masin, this truly is a thing of beauty. Wonderful, unexpected and unique, Albion may have delivered the record of the summer!
